[情報] About King Felix...
Felix Hernandez, the Mariners' 18-year-old phenom, gave up six runs, five
earned, on eight hits, including a home run to Paul Konerko, in 2 2/3 innings
against the White Sox.
"He tried to throw harder and harder and harder and it just wasn't working,
" Hargrove said. "That's one of the adjustments he is going to have to learn
to make, that harder is not always better. Most of the time location with
velocity is the best thing. He'll learn that. There are times that you just
rear back and bring it like he did to [the Angels' Vladimir] Guerrero the
other night when he struck him out.
"He threw some nice curveballs. He didn't lose his composure on the mound
like he did earlier in the spring. That was nice to see."
Hernandez is scheduled to make a start Saturday against the Cubs in Las Vegas,
but is almost certainly ticketed to begin the season in the minors.
"He's still in the mix, but I would be surprised if he made the club,"
Hargrove said. "We got the innings [to use him in the Major League camp].
We like what we see. There's no reason to send him out [now]."
