壞消息--Cabrera leaves with knee injury
NEW YORK -- Add Miguel Cabrera to the Marlins' growing list of walking wounded
.
Cabrera left Wednesday's game against the Mets in the first inning after he su
ffered a left knee contusion. While batting against Jae Seo, the 22-year-old
All-Star deflected a foul ball off his knee.
Having the ball strike him flush on the kneecap, Cabrera was tended to by
trainer Sean Cunningham. He completed his at-bat, striking out swinging.
Cabrera didn't take the field in the bottom of the inning. His status is
day-to-day.
One of the club's most durable players, Cabrera has played in 150 of Florida's
152 games. Last year, Cabrera appeared in 160 games, and he has never missed
a start because of injury since joining the Marlins in June 2003.
Batting .321, Cabrera has 32 home runs and 111 RBIs.
