Left ankle injury sidelines Uggla
Second baseman pulls up lame running bases in fourth inning
MIAMI -- Marlins second baseman Dan Uggla left Saturday's game against the
Diamondbacks in the fourth inning after injuring his left ankle.
Uggla singled to left field in the bottom of the fourth, but as he rounded
first base and tried to stop on a dime to go back to the bag, Uggla pulled up
lame and was tagged out easily. He limped back toward the dugout under his
own power.
The injury was described as a sprain and X-rays were negative.
After the game, Uggla came into his locker on crutches and sported a soft
cast on his left leg. Since Sunday's game is a 1:10 p.m. ET start, he'll sit
out the series finale against the Diamondbacks and is listed as day-to-day.
"It's just a little mild sprain," Uggla said. "The dirt was a little bit wet,
so my plant foot, when I turned back, just kind of kept going, and I could
feel it because my toe kind of got caught. ... I just wasn't able to catch
myself.
"I didn't hear a pop or anything. I've done it before. I just came in and got
some ice on it before it got too bad."
Robert Andino took Uggla's place at second base to start the fifth with the
Marlins leading, 1-0.
Losing Uggla for more than a day or two would be a huge blow to the Marlins'
offense. Entering Saturday, the 28-year-old was leading the Major Leagues in
home runs with 23.
大意:
Uggla在打出一壘安打後試圖上二壘,因而扭傷左腳踝,Uggla表示應該不是很嚴重,不過
應該會缺賽幾場,不過這已經造成馬林魚不小傷害,畢竟他是現今全壘打王。
