CHICAGO -- Jorge Cantu hit another home run, Chris Volstad delivered another
quality start and the Marlins put together some late-inning magic on the
road again to close out the first month of the season in style.

On Thursday, it was small ball that won it for the Marlins, who tied the
Cubs in the eighth with a Cameron Maybin bunt, and then used another of his
bunts in the 10th to lay the groundwork for a six-run inning.

But none of it would have been possible without shortstop Alfredo Amezaga,
who made a diving catch in the hole with two runners on base in the bottom

Those Bulls cheers in the 10th inning served as the soundtrack for the
Marlins, who capped the month by tying a club record for the second-best
winning percentage in April (.636). They had seven come-from-behind victories
in the month (including each of their past six victories).

Amezaga, starting for an injured Hanley Ramirez at shortstop, sparked the
10th-inning rally with a leadoff double, then came around to score two
batters later on an error.

It was just the beginning of a six-run onslaught -- the first time the

The Cubs took a 2-0 lead in the fifth inning on back-to-back home runs. First
, Milton Bradley, the Cubs' big offseason acquisition, broke out of a
3-for-31 slump and added a few points to his .094 batting average when he
took a 2-1 pitch from Volstad and hit it just over the wall in left.

double in the 10th.

batters he faced in a wild outing against the Diamondbacks on Wednesday,
walked the first two Marlins he faced -- pinch-hitter Ross Gload and Emilio
Bonifacio.

threw into the baseline, causing second baseman Andy Miles to collide with
Maybin. Gload came racing around to score the tying run.

Then, with one out, Theriot stole second, setting up former Marlin Derrek Lee
for the heroics. But Lee struck out swinging.

Pinch-hitter Reed Johnson then sent a hard dribbler back up the middle that
looked like it would get into center. But Amezaga made the diving stab and
flipped it to Dan Uggla at second for the out.

''He got jammed and went up the middle,'' Amezaga said. ``All I was trying to
do was knock it down at first. Then, I saw [Bradley] and I had the chance to
get the force out. I was just glad I could help the team.''

Notes
1. 伏爾泰這場投七局，無四死有5K。被打三安，其中兩安是全壘打。本季之前他很少被
打全壘打。職業生涯前四年（三年半小聯盟加上半年大聯盟）每20.1局才會被幹砲。去
年上大聯盟投了84 1/3局被打三支，今年投了30.1局已經被幹了五支。
2. 每次都靠奇蹟出現的結果是，先發已經連續13場沒拿勝投了。還差一場就可以追平球
隊記錄（98年五月到六月間），最後一次是委內瑞拉人四月16在勇士主場拿勝投。
3. 老大表示會針對大都會最後半局那消失的五分鐘向聯盟提出申訴，不這樣做哪天不知
道誰又要被婊一次。Jerry Manuel也很明白地向NY Daily News的記者表示這麼做就是希
