MILWAUKEE -- Much like the drizzle of water cascading down from Miller Park's
semi-permeable roof as thunderstorms raged outside, the game-changing rally
Wednesday proved to be a steady, disconcerting trickle.

When it was over, the Marlins were at their low-water mark of the season, at

and the bases were empty, and the Marlins gave up a lead for the second

Ricky Nolasco was unable to make it out of the decisive frame, issuing

RBI single by pitcher Braden Looper tied the game, and Nolasco (2-4)
permitted two more lightly struck RBI singles, including an infield cue shot
by Rickie Weeks that gave the Brewers the lead, before exiting.

Prince Fielder capped the big inning with a two-run single up the middle
against reliever Hayden Penn, making the score 8-4. All eight runs were

Gonzalez, who saw Nolasco's ERA escalate to 7.78 after he went 15-8 with a
3.52 ERA in 2008. "We'll get it straightened out. He's got another 24 more
starts, so he'll get it cranked up.

The Marlins, however, weren't out of the game. John Baker homered in the
sixth to make it 8-5, and Ross Gload came close to his first Marlins home
run with a shot that hugged the right-field line that initially was ruled
fair by first-base umpire Bruce Dreckman.

Chris Coghlan hit his first Major League home run in the opening inning, and
each of the first four batters had solid hits against Looper (3-2), leading
to an immediate 3-0 advantage. Coghlan picked up a sacrifice fly in the
second for his third RBI of the game, giving the Fish a 4-1 edge.
