Mauresmo's inflamed shoulder forces her out
Amelie Mauresmo's series of bad luck in Zurich goes on! The world No 1, who
missed the tournament in 2004 because of injury and lost in the first round
in 2003 and 2005, has had to withdraw from this year's event a day before her
scheduled appearance in the quarter-finals. An inflammation in two places in
her right shoulder, that has been getting worse since the tournament in
Stuttgart three weeks ago, has forced her to pull out of the Zurich Open.
"I've pushed myself to be able to play last week, to be able to come here this
week," she said. "Maybe it wasn't the right solution, but I tried."
