Mauresmo Withdraws From Pilot Pen

Amelie Mauresmo withdrew from the Pilot Pen tournament today after the world's
seventh-ranked player claiming fatugue and the need for additional rest. She
was replaced in the main draw by No. 26 Francesca Schiavone.
"After recovering from appendicitis, I rushed back too quickly because there
was a lot at stake for me, especially on grass," said Mauresmo, a New Haven
finalist in 2005. "Unfortunately my body did not cooperate. Now I am
listening to my body and taking some time off to get back to a better and
stronger competing shape."
The Pilot Pen is Aug. 19-25 at the Connecticut Tennis Center in New Haven.
