Dallas Mavs chow down at Hully and Mo's

OK, the Mavericks' being out of the playoffs is sad. But at least the circus
is over – the cameraman-jostling, name-calling, blog-apologizing circus is
over.
Thursday night, Dirk Nowitzki and teammates just looked like some really tall
businessmen lamenting a bad day on the Dow. Several Mavericks descended on
Hully & Mo in the Quadrangle about 6 p.m. to down some sliders and libations.
There was Dirk, Jason Kidd, J.J. Barea, Brandon Bass and Erick Dampier.
Once the evening started rolling, even Mavericks owner Mark Cuban came by to
hang with the gang.The newest Sambuca
Sambuca's brother and sister owners, Kim Forsythe and Holly Forsythe, have
just given us a reason to hang around town in July.
That's when they'll open the latest addition to their restaurant-music club
empire.
Sambuca 360 will open in the former Martini Park space at the Shops at Legacy
in Plano. And expect something intimate like the original Sambuca jazz club
that opened in Deep Ellum two decades ago.
"360 represents the full circle we have come in 18 years," Kim says.Rudy has
a ball
Rudy Giuliani took some heat from New Yorkers for putting on a Boston Red Sox
cap during his presidential campaign. He picked up more American League
tokens during his trip to Dallas last week.
Pitcher Nolan Ryan gave him an autographed baseball at Wednesday night's
EveryMan Dinner, benefiting prostate cancer research through the Baylor
Health Care System Foundation.
"You have to root for the Rangers when you're in Texas," Nolan informed the
former New York City mayor, himself a former prostate cancer patient.
Texas Rangers owner Tom Hicks was honorary chairman of the event at the
Ritz-Carlton. Emmitt's milestone
On Friday, the NFL's all-time leading rusher celebrated his 40th birthday.
Emmitt Smith got a little surprise during his birthday dinner two days
earlier at Al Biernat's restaurant.
Emmitt and his wife, Pat (a former Miss Virginia), were finishing up dinner
and about to dig into the pecan pie when two other diners came over to say
happy birthday.
Unbeknownst to Emmitt, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and his son, Stephen, were
dining nearby with George Bayoud. The Joneses came over to wish Emmitt well. .
