In the other 13 games since March 3, Dallas has allowed opponents to shoot 47.7 percent or better 10 times. As coach Rick Carlisle would say, that's losing basketball. Two plays in the third quarter defined this bogus defense. Both involved offensive rebounds, one by point guard Russell Westbrook, for easy second-chance points. Those kinds of easy baskets doomed the Mavericks. And that will continue to be their fatal flaw to the bitter end if the intensity and the attention to detail defensively do not improve.
