"I'm doing better,'' he said. "Hopefully it'll be sometime next week (when he returns to action). We'll have to wait and see.'' That ruled out playing on the current trip, which ends Sunday in Cleveland. The Mavericks have three home games next week, Tuesday vs. Portland; Thursday vs. Oklahoma City and Saturday vs. Orlando. Nowitzki said he's finding out that being injured isn't any fun. In fact, it's even more of a pain than he thought it would be. "They make you work harder when you're injured than when you're not,'' he said. But he understands that it's prudent not to rush back from the sprained right knee suffered Monday at Oklahoma City. "Yeah, hopefully we can get these two games on this trip and then next week sometime I'll be able to go,'' he said. "I really like the way the guys have responded. (Brian) Cardinal was great, playing tough and giving out hard fouls. (Alexis) Ajinca came in and did a good job. It's going to be tough without Shawn, but we got guys who can get it done.'' Shawn Marion is also out Saturday night with a bruised right thigh. Marion said the injury happened late in the first half of the San Antonio game on Thursday.
