http://tinyurl.com/73a54vk As the rumor whirlwind swirls, the Mavericks are preparing for training camp on Friday with an air of anticipation, even though they don't know exactly who will be there for the camp's start. Rudy Fernandez was a no-show for physicals, which the Mavericks are going through on Wednesday. No timetable for the new shooting guard's arrival, although coach Rick Carlisle said "he'll be here soon enough.'' The same can't be said for at least some, if not all, of the Mavericks' free agents, Carlisle said. "There's a whole alphabet of plans,'' he told media members. "Look, this is a creative group of people here. We're going to find a way to compete at the highest level. That's just how we do business. That's one of the fun things about being involved in this organization. I'm anxious and excited about how things are going to unfold and there's a lot of things we don't know. "The approach is going to be the same. We're not going to have the identical team back. We know that. And in time, we'll find out exactly what the roster is going to look like. In the meantime, there's a lot of anticipation. It'll be upon us very quickly.'' The odds continue to tilt against Tyson Chandler, J.J. Barea and Caron Butler being back with the Mavericks, who are staying true to their game plan of offering only one-year deals to all free agents so that they can keep maximum dollars available for the free-agent class of 2012. Friday is the first day free agents can sign deals, but Carlisle said he expects it to be well into next week before many free agents find homes. Carlisle also has filled the vacancy on his coaching staff left by Dwane Casey's departure to be head coach in Toronto. Tony Brown, a former Arkansas Razorback, NBA player and assistant for Carlisle in Detroit, has joined the staff and will be on the bench alongside Carlisle, Terry Stotts, Monte Mathis and Darrell Armstrong.
