http://tinyurl.com/6oghgje Sorry for the technical problems of the early afternoon, but we're back in action and can confirm to you that Caron Butler will sign a three-year agreement with the Los Angeles Clippers when free agents can begin doing so on Friday. This is the first of many dominoes to fall with the next one likely to be Tyson Chandler going to New York, although that deal is only in the "getting there'' stage, according to one source. Chandler's deal, widely reported to be worth about $24 million, means the Clippers have filled a need at small forward and also gives them another asset if they decide to jump into trade talkls for one of next summer's marquee free agents -- Chris Paul, Deron Williams or Dwight Howard. The Mavericks offered only a one-year deal to Butler, the same length they are offering Chandler and J.J. Barea. None of them have any desire to take a one-year deal. Chandler has been in deep discussions with New York and Golden State, who may end up in a bidding war for Chandler. The Mavericks are waiting to see if either of those teams might be interested in a sign-and-trade scenario with perhaps Chauncey Billups being involved on the New York end. He's on the final year of his contract.
