The Dallas Mavericks will be without center Tyson Chandler Wednesday night against Utah, and also could be without shooting guard Monta Ellis for the final game before the All-Star break, the team announced today. “We hope it isn’t serious, but it’ll keep him out tomorrow for sure,” Carlisle said. He added that Ellis had an MRI Tuesday morning and the results were not yet known. He’s listed as doubtful for the Utah game. Chandler suffered a sprained left ankle in the first minute against the Los Angeles Clippers on Monday and did not return to the game. Ellis left three minutes later with a left hip injury and he also did not return. The All-Star break, which will be eight days this season, begins on Thursday, so it makes sense to give Chandler the extra day to recover. The hope is that he will be ready to return after the break. The Mavericks’ next game after Utah is Feb. 19 at Oklahoma City. The Mavericks already expect to shore up the center position with Bernard James, who spent part of this season playing in China.
