at the All-Star break

After being spurned by DeAndre Jordan last off-season, there was some talk
around town of the Mavs tanking this season to keep their draft pick and
start the post-Dirk rebuilding process a little bit early.
Well, Mark Cuban wasn't having any of that. After losing out on Jordan, Cuban
went out and put together a piecemeal roster, just as he has done the last
few years. The result? The Mavs sit in 6th place in the always competitive
Western Conference and look like a team that could give the Clippers some
problems in the first round, if they end up matching up.
What has made this year interesting so far for the Mavs? Here are 10
interesting stats to digest while you wait for the season to restart on
Friday.

Although his full-season stats show that he's averaging only 12 points per
game this season, Chandler Parsons has turned it on of late, averaging 20.3
points per game in his last 13 games, including a couple of 30-point outputs
in January. If Parsons can start carrying more of the scoring burden for the
Mavs, their offense -- ranked 18th in points per game thus far -- could take
off.

This is the Mavs' record against teams at or above .500. That's obviously not

points and 11 rebounds per game. He's no Tyson Chandler, but he has
definitely exceeded expectations this year.

success the last few years. The difference between these two teams in the
success of these attempts is quite large, though. Golden State is making a
ridiculous 42.4 percent of their attempts while the Mavs are only making 34
percent of their tries, good for 22nd in the league.

list is Wilt Chamberlain, but it could be a while before Dirk catches him. He
needs 2,440 points to tie Chamberlain at 32,419. At his current pace, that
could take him another two seasons after this one.

the highest mark on the Mavericks. The seven-footer has only played in 32
games this season, so maybe Carlisle will think about playing him more in the
second half. Or maybe they are scared of seeing more of these types of
moments from McGee:

happened only twice so far. Although they only have one winning streak over

right in the thick of the Western Conference playoff race.

in check so they can be fresh for the playoffs. This strategy was made
popular, of course, by Gregg Popovich and the Spurs.

still coming out to support this team in droves. Maybe it's because fans want
to get one last look at Dirk while he's still playing well, but the fact is
that there are 27 other team owners that would love to be where the Mavs are
in the attendance standings. We're sure Mark Cuban is fired up.
