James Posey and Udonis Haslem provided sparks that helped the Heat win Game 4 and take a 3-1 lead over the Pistons. BY CAMMY CLARK cclark@MiamiHerald.com James Posey desperately tried to keep the ball inbounds after he deflected a Pistons pass. But his effort fell just short. Instead of saving the ball, he landed in the laps of R&B singer Usher and record producer Jermaine Dupri. ''I knew it was them, but they were in my way,'' Posey said, before joking: ``They wanted to sign me to a record deal or something.'' Posey added that he hoped the duo was all right. Failing to save the ball was about the only thing that went wrong for Posey in the Heat's Game 4 victory over Detroit on Monday night. Posey provided the strong defensive spark, holding Tayshaun Prince to only four points in the second half. Udonis Haslem provided the offensive spark, scoring a career postseason-best 16 points, which aided Dwyane Wade, who had 31 points, and Shaquille O'Neal, who added 21. Haslem said his teammates had told him to keep shooting after dismal offensive performances in the first two games of the series. He had no points in Game 1 and only two points in Game 2. MORE AGGRESSIVE ''Just trying to be more aggressive,'' said Haslem, who made 6 of 10 shots from the field and 4 of 6 free throws. ``The first games I settled for a lot of jump shots and nothing really went in. You try to get a rhythm and just shoot a jumper. ``I tried to be more aggressive every game, and also tonight I got to the free-throw line.'' Detroit's Chauncey Billups said that it was not a big surprise Haslem was open. ''He's getting looks by design,'' Billups said. ``We help and double-team on Shaq. We have to give something up. [Haslem] is doing a good job of knocking shots down.'' Wade agreed that Haslem was aggressive. ''I think he's shooting about 50 percent the last two games after struggling,'' Wade said. ``That was big for us.'' Haslem made a layup in transition to tie the score at 4-4. A few minutes later, Haslem was fouled and knocked down two free throws. Haslem also hit three jump shots and scored off an offensive rebound. NEVER GIVING UP ''Yeah, nobody got down on me,'' Haslem said of his early series struggles. ``We've all been through ups and downs this season. They got behind me 100 percent, and told me, `Keep fighting. You've got to keep making shots.' ``I tried to defend, keep rebounding and make myself as useful as possible.'' Haslem also contributed five rebounds and a blocked shot in Game 4. Posey, who came off the bench to play 30 minutes, also hit two three-pointers, including an important one late in the game to put the Heat up 77-67. ``I just wanted to take advantage of those opportunities and shoot the ball with confidence.
