Wade's awakening was particularly important for the Heat since the Mavericks took Shaquille O'Neal out of the game by hacking him before he caught the ball. With O'Neal on the bench to avoid the tactic, Wade really was the only option to take big shots for the Heat. There was a moment in the third quarter that might have said something about Nowitzki's confidence. He came free off a screen about 18 feet from the basket, the kind of shot that plays to his strength as a shooter. But for some reason Nowitzki hesitated for just a moment, allowing the Heat's Posey time to get a hand in his face. Nowitzki made the shot, but he looked like he really didn't want to take it. That 50-point outburst by Nowitzki against Phoenix in the Western Conference finals seems so long ago now. He had 30 in Game 3 against the Heat, but most will remember how he missed the potential tying free throw in that game. The Heat's defensive lineup can struggle to score, so getting something from Payton and Posey is key.
