[外電] Does the Heat have any shot now?
No, this was not the best of days for a team seemingly stuck in a cycle of
misery.
With James Jones now expected to miss three months due to a torn tendon in his
right (shooting) wrist, it is difficult to see where the Heat finds the needed
shooting to space the floor and clear the lane for the drives of Dwyane Wade
and the post play of Michael Beasley.
Coach Erik Spoelstra spoke Thursday of Daequan Cook possibly stepping up.
That's the same Daequan Cook who is 2 of 14 from beyond the 3-point arc this
preseason. Spoelstra also spoke of Chris Quinn and Yakhouba Diawara having
the range to make such shots.
(Worry warning: Heat relying on Chris Quinn and Yakhouba Diawara.)
Spoelstra also said the Heat could bring its outside shooting inside the arc,
citing the comfort from that range for Dorell Wright, Beasley and even Udonis
Haslem.
Perhaps. Or perhaps this is the Curse of the Kapono.
To sum up: Coming off a league-worst 15-67 season. Now 0-3 in the preseason,
without an exhibition victory since 2006. And now with its prized offseason
free-agent acquisition sidelined for three months.
