[新聞] Miami Heat's Michael Beasley working to stop slump
Michael Beasley said he has never endured a slump like the one he's in now.
But Beasley is taking a proactive approach to end it.
Although the Heat held no practice Monday, Beasley came to AmericanAirlines
Arena to spend two hours working with coaches.On Tuesday, he stayed late to
polish some of his offensive moves with assistant Bob McAdoo. He also
spoke with Heat president Pat Riley, who he said ``gave me some words
of wisdom: `Keep your spirits high and things are going to get better.''
Beasley has averaged 10.1 points and 4.7 rebounds and shot just 35.6 percent
from the field in his past seven games. He reached a low point Sunday
against Toronto, shooting 1 for 10 to close with two points and three
rebounds. In the previous game, at Milwaukee, he had eight points and
three rebounds and shot 3 for 9.
Struggling offensively is ``new to me, but I've got to keep fighting,'' he
said Tuesday. ``Last game, I felt I hurt the team a lot. I let my scoring
dictate my energy, rebounding, defense. I let a couple missed shots
take me completely out of my game.''
``If I'm not scoring, I can be a rebounder, an energy guy, I can help on
defense with steals and blocks.''The key, he said, is ``not to try to force
anything. Open shots, shoot them. I'm tough on myself. It's me wanting to be
great.''
