time, Kidd outsmarted people on a nightly basis. No Maverick fan will forget
the loss he turned into a win at Atlanta by dribbling into then-Hawks coach
Mike Woodson, who was on the court barking out signals to his players late in
the game at Philips Arena.
When asked later if he knew it would mean a technical foul on Woodson, Kidd
said: “I didn’t know what, but I figured it was something.”
Don’t believe that. He knew it would translate to a free point in a tight
game. Other players might not have reacted that way.
