season and my whole life to keep getting better, but I’m never done. I’m
here to talk about my journey so far and anything you want to know about the
work it takes to reach your potential on the court and in life. Also down to
just talk hoops. Shout out to Gatorade for making this AMA happen.

Hey Dame. What are your real thoughts on Neil Olshey now that he’s been fired

I have a lot of thoughts, but ya know, in short, I always had a really good
relationship with Neil. He drafted me and gave me the opportunity to have the
career that I've had. Ya know, it's been a great run, and it's just an all-
around unfortunate situation in the business that we work in.

Who’s the hardest team to deal with in pick and roll situations

The hardest team to deal with in PNR situations, when I'm the defender, I
would say probably Golden State, just because it's so unpredictable, and Steph
is always moving, even when he comes off the pick n roll. If you trap him, he
's throwing it back and cutting. Ya know they got people screening and pinning
in, screening for him, there's just a lot of things they do out of their pick
n rolls, even though it's not high value for them. So defensively I would say
Golden State with Steph involved.
And then when I'm on offense, in pick n rolls, the hardest team to deal with I
would say is probably the Miami Heat, usually because they are very versatile
. Defensively they've got a lot of height and athleticism and length. They
switch a lot of things. They're able to crowd the paint, they help each other,
they swarm to the ball, so I would say Miami has been one of the more
difficult teams defensively.

three for me.

What was your “Welcome to the NBA” moment?

I would say my "Welcome to the NBA moment" was my rookie year pre-season game.
It was at Phoenix, and Goran Dragic was the starting point guard for the
Phoenix Suns. Obviously, I had seen Goran Dragic play many a times just being
a fan of the NBA, but I didn't look at him like he was Chris Paul or Derrick
Rose at the time, Deron Williams. It was like those top guys in the league
that when I knew I was gonna play against them I was like, "Man, what is it
gonna be like?"
But playing against Goran Dragic, I had respect for him but I wasn't expecting
this to be a tough match up like it would be with those other guys. And I get
out there, and he's running out pick n rolls, making 3s, he getting to the
rim and he was just killing me. I came in the first time out and I was just
like, that was the first time in my life where I felt just lost out there. I
felt like I was hitting every screen, I felt like he was making tough shots, I
felt like he was turning a corner on me in transition, I couldn't keep him in
front of me sometimes. It was just a lot, and it was just like "Man, this is
definitely a 'welcome to the NBA moment," because even on the nights where you
're playing against a guy that's maybe not an All Star or not on the level of
the Elite players, it's still a handful.
I kind of took that for granted and mentally I wasn't as sharp as I needed to
be. That let me know that every night in the NBA you gotta come correct,
regardless of who you're playing against, because everybody's here for a
reason, and it didn't take long to learn that lesson. So I would say that was
my "Welcome to the NBA" moment.
