The Guardians were the big winners of Major League Baseball’s Draft Lottery on
Tuesday, held at the Winter Meetings for the second straight season, winning the
No. 1 pick in the 2024 Draft. It will be the first time Cleveland has selected
at the top of the Draft, having picked second overall on five occasions.
The Guardians had the ninth-highest chance of winning the No. 1 pick, at 2.0 per
cent.

The New York Islanders have the No. 1 pick in the 2025 Upper Deck NHL Draft afte
r winning the NHL Draft Lottery on Monday.
The Islanders, who at 3.5 percent had the 10th-best chance of winning the lotter
y, would pick No. 1 for the fifth time and the first since selecting center John
Tavares in the 2009 NHL Draft. They also took goalie Rick DiPietro first in 200
0, defenseman Denis Potvin in 1973 and forward Billy Harris in 1972.
