So your plan originally was to compete in the dunk contest, and then they
backed out on you?Mac McClung: Originally, I told everybody I was done. I
retired after the third year, and they're good friends of mine. We're in
contact a lot, and they were talking about this next year, and I was pretty
much saying: 'I'm not going to do it'. But I prepared anyway, just in case
maybe I would. I think there was just back and forth of us being like this,
and then they were calling me, being like 'People didn't want to do it if I
was doing it', and I thought it's best if I just sit out this year and let it
be, no matter what.It looks like because you've won it so many times, people
didn't want to compete against you.
所以你原本計畫要參加灌籃大賽，結果對方後來反悔了？
Mac McClung：原本我跟大家都說我已經不玩了，第三年比完我就退休了，而他們都是
我的好朋友，我們經常保持聯繫，他們一直在跟我討論明年的事，而我當時幾乎都是回：
「我不會再參加了。」但我還是有做準備，以防我改變主意。我跟他們就這樣來來回回討
論，後來他們打給我，跟我說：「只要你參加，其他人就不想參加了。」所以我覺得今年
我先退出，讓事情自然發展，不管怎樣都好。
It looks like because you've won it so many times, people didn't want to
compete against you.
MM: I don't know if it was that. I know they were after a lot of big-name
guys, and the situation may not have been clear, but they're good friends of
mine. It wasn't anything like ill will. We were just trying to figure it out
together, and I felt there was a little bit of hesitation on both sides. So I
thought we'll let this year happen and then let the people kind of feel the
way they do. I don't know if it'll ever be in my future or not, but I've
definitely enjoyed it these last three years.
看起來是因為你贏太多次了，大家都不想跟你比。
Mac McClung：我不確定是不是這樣，我知道他們在找很多大牌的球員，情況可能有點不明
，但他們真的是我好朋友，沒有惡意。我們只是試著想辦法解決。所以我就想，今年就先
這樣，讓大家自己去感受。我不知道未來我還會不會再參加，但過去這三年我真的很享受
。
