Kim Clijsters, the No.2 seed, has advanced to the quarter-finals of the Australian Open with a 6-3 6-3 win over No.20 seed Silvia Farina Elia.
Despite dropping her serve once in each set, Clijsters was in control for most of the match, securing five breaks of the Italian's serve.
Clijsters will play Anastasia Myskina in the quarter-final, as she did last year when she won 6-2 6-4 on the way to a semi-final defeat at the hands of eventual champion Serena Williams.
