their head-to-head in the competition stretches back to 1923. Spain has won
five of their seven previous meetings but Netherlands won the last two
encounters, in the first round in 1993 and most recently in 2001, when the
Dutch inflicted a painful defeat over the then-defending champions in the
first round.
