Kim Clijsters says she is optimistic about her chances of making Belgium’s Fed Cup tie against Croatia on 24-25 April despite suffering from a serious wrist injury. “At this moment, chances that I will play the Fed Cup are still higher than the ones of not playing,” Clijsters told her personal website. Clijsters was forced to withdraw from the WTA Tour event in Indian Wells after sustaining the injury during her first match. Doctors diagnosed a one and a half centimetre tear in her wrist tendon and a stress reaction in the muscles around it. Clijsters is currently sporting a wrist brace but is practicing hard in the United States in an attempt to be fit for the tie, which is being held in her home town of Bree. “Every day I am taking anti-inflammatory pills. They should take care of getting the fluids out of my wrist,” said the World No.2, who was to have been Belgium’s lynchpin against the Croatians. “I am trying to keep my form, but running with my brace on isn't easy and while playing tennis, I can only use my right hand. The brace will go in about ten days and then I can try to train again. Should the injury not be better then, I will have to wait a further two to three weeks.” Belgium may need to turn to Clijsters’ friend Kirsten Flipkens to fill the gap, although World No.1 Justine Henin-Hardenne has not yet ruled herself out of the equation. “It will become difficult to be strong for the Fed Cup which really is such a shame, because I was in good shape,” said Clijsters, before revealing that the wrist is so painful that she has been having to call on fiance Lleyton Hewitt to lend a hand with the simplest tasks. “At night I regularly cannot sleep because of the pain,” she said. “I can't even wash my hair, so Lleyton has to lend a hand.” ------- 這是舊文了 因為fed cup 在比利時場地 我想 kim跟henin參賽機會大吧 不參賽說不太過去 -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 220.137.86.102
