Many thanks for the support! 16-06-2004
As you all know, I have had my surgery already. Everything went smoothly. I
want to thank everybody for the hundreds of cards and letters I received.
Really great!
I hardly slept during the first night after the surgery, because I had a lot
of pain. Doctors told me that was quite usual. I have to live a quiet live
for the whole week. After that I can try to cycle a bit, without putting any
pressure on my wrist. Next week, the tiny threads will be removed next week,
after which I will leave for Wimbledon as soon as possible, to be of support
for Lleyton.
I'm really overwhelmed by the number of cards I received for my birthday and
for wishing me well after the surgery. On the forum there was a lot of
support as well. I would like to thank everybody again. It is difficult to
answer to each one, but every card was a warm support.
A real pity that Elke should stop playing, but her health is more important
than her career. I hope I can persuade my sister to play a doubles one more
in the future. Maybe at the new tournament in Hasselt?
It will be difficult to make it into the Masters this year, but to be honest,
I hardly worry about that. I want to be fit again.
