Next Monday, the third grand slam tournament of the year, and preeminent
grass spectacle will begin. After ten days of mending physical wounds from
the rigors of the clay season, Justine will start her Wimbledon campaign with
her first practice sessions in England today.
From Paris across the English Channel to London, two distinct cities; two
very different tournaments. With only a minimal interval of two weeks to
separate the events Justine, and the world's best players, plus an
international cast of hundreds will compete for the the ultimate tennis
trophy.
Unlike previous years, Justine will have played no warm-up grass tournaments.
Considering her superb 24 match winning streak, including the Roland Garros
title; it was wise decision. The body, soul and mind needed to heal.
All players from the quarterfinals to the champion of Roland Garros, the
previous week, are given priviledges of practicing on the grounds of the All
England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club at the famed SW19 address. Justine has
taken the honor, and will begin her five days of grass court acclimatization
today.
The official player seeding will be released Wednesday, and the draw will be
revealed on Thursday. Justine's seeding will most likely be in accordance to
the current WTA rankings, and at #7. She will play her first round match on
Monday June 20 or Tuesday June 21.
Be sure to tune into Justine's return to Wimbledon on your local broadcasting
tv networks, and check listings for specifics. You can also go to the
Wimbledon website, or follow only Justine's matches here at our official
site.
