Jonathan Marray was three games from
a famous victory against experienced campaigner
Xavier Malisse before suffering an agonising defeat.

British number nine had ignored the distrition of
Tim Henman playing at the same time and losing the
first set to recover and look on course to win.
Marray's constant forays to the net unsettled the
former semi-finalist, and helped him lead 3-0 in
the final set.
But Malisse held his nerve and hit back to clinch
a 6-3 3-6 2-6 6-1 6-4 win.
It was a bitter blow for Marray, who battled for
just short of three hours, during much of which
he played some impressive tennis.
Malisse appeared rattled at times, at one changeover
in the fifth set asking the umpire about some problem
he had with one of the balls.
But his knowledge told in the end as he went for broke
and snatched victory.
Marray tried to stay upbeat afterwards, saying:
"I'm quite positive about it and hopefully can
bring it into the next six months. I'm not
feeling like I did last year anyway."
"I missed a few first serves and some volleys
in the middle of the fifth set and he started
returning quite well.
"It's everyone's dream to play here and it's
good for us to get the opportunity."
Malisse revealed that he was verbally targeted
by some spectators during the match.
"It's a lot tough because people talk to you and
say bad stuff and you can only ignore it for so
long," he said.
"There were some people in the corner just saying
stuff to get in your head but you get it everywhere
and that's just part of the game.
"And I like it here and I think people appreciate
good tennis."
