Another Award for US Open Champ Clijsters
LONDON, England - World No. 2 Kim Clijsters was honoured in London Monday when
she was presented with the inaugural Stella Artois Award at the Lawn Tennis
Writers Association's Annual Dinner, held at the illustrious Hurlingham Club.
The Association's Chairman, Barry Newcombe, presented the trophy to Clijsters,
with the BBC's Sue Barker on hand. The award marks an individual who goes above
and beyond to promote and represent the sport in the highest manner.
This caps a monumental year for the Belgian, who rose from No.134 in March to
world No.2 six months later, winning a Tour-leading $3.9 million and nine
singles titles, highlighted by her first Grand Slam triumph in New York.
