No Fed Cup for Justine...
15/09/2003:
We just got back from a press conference where Justine spoke to the
Belgian press after her victory at the US Open.
Justine will not play at the upcoming Fed Cup event in Moscow. She
emphasized that it's purely out of precaution ( back problems) and
not because of the location.If the Fed Cup would've been held in
Belgium, she wouldn't play either. Justine wants to play safe and
her health comes first.
She will take part in the following tournaments: Leipzig (reservedly)
Zurich, Filderstadt and the Masters.
Next week there will be another medical examination to see whether
she can compete in Leipzig or not. Justine's back problems are caused
by an old footinjury she had about 6 years ago.
What about the last Grand Slam Tournament? "I never expected to win
the US Open this year. The match which I'll remember for the rest of
my life is the semi final against Capriati. It means so much more to
me than the semi's against Serena at Roland Garros."
"Do I have any further dreams? Let's call it objectives...I will try
to win every match when I go on court...every day when I work out
with Carlos, I learn some new things...I am very happy at this point
in my life..."
After the Masters, she will make two weeks holiday....
