That's what Pete Sampras had to say about Belgium's Xavier Malisse back in 1998, after Sampras had beaten the 17 year old in three tough sets in Philadelphia. Fast forward to the beginning of 2002: Malisse had cracked the top 50 but was still searching for his breakthrough. He didn't have much longer to wait. Malisse is now ranked No. 22 a career high fueled by his semifinal runs at Wimbledon, Memphis, and Scottsdale. How did the X-man turn things around? That was our first question. Lazy Days: "I used to go out for drinks the night before a match. Now I wait and I work harder. Three years ago, I'd hit for an hour. These days I'm on the court for at least three hours a day. I'm also much calmer now. I used to go nuts on the court." Friendly Fire: "I had two bad years (in 1999 and 2000). My friends told me I should start working.
