Add it up Putting my public school education to good use, just did this quick stat: Total innings pitched (major, minors and postseason) in 2007 Ian Kennedy 165.1 Joba Chamberlain 116 Phil Hughes 115.2 This perhaps sheds a little light on why the Yankees were so interested in hanging on to Kennedy. Unless they abandon all common sense, Chamberlain won’t be throwing 200 innings next season. More like 175. The same is probably true of Hughes. But Kennedy is at a stage in his conditioning where he could go 200 fairly easily. Given that Hughes and Chamberlain will have to be skipped from time to time, Kennedy could prove critical. Kennedy could be a nice fit, given that Wang, Pettitte, Hughes and Chamberlain are power pitchers. His finesse should be effective. Mike Mussina will figure in the mix somewhere, perhaps as the No. 5 starter.
