On defense, the Yankees seemed at times to be still recovering from their 12-inning game the night before. Melky Cabrera had the biggest gaffe on Justin Morneau's fly-ball triple to right-center in the sixth. As Cabrera fielded the ball near the wall, he slipped and attempted to fling the ball to right fielder Abreu backing up the play. The throw went well over Abreu's head for an error as Morneau scored, making it 4-1 Twins. "It was just some bad luck," Rasner said. "It looked like Melky slipped. Melky's going to make those plays. It was just a freak thing." This was Rasner's second straight start in which the Yankees scored only one run. He had not allowed more than two runs in nine straight minor-league and big-league starts before yesterday's subpar outing. "I was getting behind, getting up, and they made me pay," Rasner said. Rasner also has experience with getting hit by a hard shot back to the mound. Last year a one-hopper by Endy Chavez broke his right index finger, ending his season. But Rasner said he wasn't thinking about that as he saw Blackburn sprawled on the mound -- just concerned for his counterpart. "It was tough," Rasner said.
