By Jimmy Traina, SI.com On Monday, Gillette announced Derek Jeter has joined their latest "Champions" campaign. The four-time World Series champion sat down with SI.com's Jimmy Traina after the event for the following Q&A. SI.com: Now that you're Gillette's newest spokesperson, will you be able to get free products and give them to Jason Giambi? Jeter: [Laughing] You know, the Yankees have strict rules. You can have a mustache but no other facial hair. But I can give him some stuff. That would be kinda fun when he decides to shave it off. But he's been hitting pretty good with the mustache, so I can't see him shaving it off any time soon. SI.com: Speaking of Giambi, I have to ask: When was the last time you wore the thong? Jeter: That story really took on a whole life of its own. I think Jason had done an interview years ago and it just popped up, but I haven't worn it. It's not a thing that people just go around wearing. SI.com: Since we're doing this for SI.com, I have to ask if you're an Internet guy. Do you surf the Web a lot? Jeter: Not really, man. SI.com: That's too bad. You have a legendary reputation in the sports blogosphere thanks to your off-the-field , um, prowess, for lack of a better term. Jeter: [Laughing] Prowess. That's a good one, Jim. Prowess. SI.com: A lot of that reputation comes from stories in the New York Post's Page Six. When they have an item about you, how do you first hear about it? Do you read it yourself, does your mom call, do teammates inform you? Jeter: Turn around. That's Jen. [Jeter points out a member of his PR staff.] She let's me know. She gets calls at the office all the time. But don't believe everything you read. Please don't believe it. And don't say anything bad about Page Six because they're already on me, man. SI.com: Well, they had a couple of recent items that were interesting. They said you were hanging out with Friday Night Lights star, Minka Kelly. Jeter: Hanging out? What does that mean, though? [According to the papers] I've hung out and dated people I've never even met before. SI.com: There was also this funny story about something that happened in Miami. Jeter: The parking? That was all made up, man. All made up. SI.com: Really? We had a lot of fun with that story. Jeter: [Laughing] So did my sister. She had a blast with that one. SI.com: What was the last movie you saw in the theatres? Jeter: Strangers. SI.com: Did you like it? Jeter: It was all right. SI.com: What's the last album you downloaded to your iPod? Jeter: Old-school R&B. Troop. SI.com: Do you have a ringtone on your phone? Jeter: Nope. I just use vibrate SI.com: What shows do you Tivo/DVR? Jeter: American Idol and Entourage. SI.com: Who is your all-time favorite American Idol? Jeter: Carrie Underwood's pretty good. She could sing. SI.com: Are we gonna read about you and Carrie Underwood in Page Six now? Jeter: [Laughing and raising voice] No, no. I've never met her! I've never met her! SI.com: Who is your favorite Entourage character? Jeter: I like Drama. SI.com: What is your favorite New York City club? Jeter: You're assuming that I go to clubs. I really don't go to clubs anymore. SI.com: Really? Ever? Jeter: I didn't say ever. I said not too much. SI.com: So let's say you were going out for a night. Where would you go? Jeter: I wouldn't know where to go right now. I can't tell you the last time I was out in a club in New York City. SI.com: You turned 34 last week. Jeter: Say 32. SI.com: OK, you turned 32 last week. Were there any parties or celebrations? Jeter: No. We were in Pittsburgh. We started playing, we got rain delayed. Then we got rained out. Then we came back to New York and we had a doubleheader and then we had rain the next day. So no festivities. SI.com: Will there be a party soon? Jeter: No, it's pretty much passed now. I think I missed one this year. SI.com: What is your favorite drink to order at Starbucks? Jeter: Cappuccino. SI.com: What is your favorite drink to order on the rare occasion you're at a club? Jeter: Cappuccino. SI.com: Come on. Jeter: Cranberry juice and club soda. SI.com: You hosted Saturday Night Live in 2001. Do you think you'll do it again? Jeter: Possibly. What you don't realize is that's a full week. When I did it, I thought you just show up on Thursday and on Saturday and that was it. You don't realize how much time goes into that show. I have the utmost respect for the people there because it's a full week every single week. I had a good time, though. SI.com: Are you able to just walk around the city if you feel like it? Jeter: I don't walk around Central Park, but you have to be careful what you do because people will make up a story and then Page Six has something for you. I'm not a hermit, but I definitely stay in a lot more than I used to. There's more attention now then there ever was. You walk down the street with someone and it's a story. It becomes national news, you know what I mean? So, I still do things, but I stay home a lot more. SI.com: What's the weirdest body part you've been asked to sign? Jeter: I've been asked to sign a forehead. SI.com: Did you do it? Jeter: No. I'm sure the person would've regretted it right after if I did it. SI.com: What do you think you'll be doing when you're 45 or 50 years old? Jeter: I'd like to be an owner. I think that would be something I'd enjoy. Being able to call the shots would be cool. SI.com: Would you let your players have facial hair? Jeter: Nope.
