Mike Mussina talked about his quest for 20 wins and whether he would want to return next season. Moose said it comes down to whether he wants to retire now or keep going and chase 300 wins. Basically, if he comes back for one season he would probably pitch three more. As for Brian Cashman, he’s driving back home tomorrow and will contemplate his decision. This has nothing to do with money, it has everything to do with whether he wants to subject himself to holding on to one of the most pressurized jobs in sports. Being GM of the Yankees or Red Sox is different than being GM of the other 30 teams. Cashman had found a way to work for George Steinbrenner. But can he find a way to work with his sons? Keep in mind, Hank and Hal were not involved whatsoever until late in the 2007 season. Cashman hasn’t decided yet. “It’s 50-50,” he said.
