Report: Johnny Damon Discussing Potential Reunion With Yankees

Johnny Damon wasn't up for a Red Sox reunion during the 2010 season, but he
could be ready to return to the Bronx.
According to Newsday, multiple sources have confirmed that the Yankees and
Damon are in talks toward a potential return for the 16-year veteran. The two
parties have reportedly conducted multiple meetings discussing Damon's
possible role on the team.
The Yankees are likely looking at Damon for occasional at-bats as a
designated hitter and as a substitute left fielder, two starting jobs that
have been guaranteed to Jorge Posada and Brett Gardner for the 2011 season.
While the deal is possible, sources are saying it is not even close to
completion since Damon is looking for a more permanent role on a team this
season, and could likely find that role elsewhere. However, Damon has said in
the past that he'd welcome a return to the Yankees and has several friends on
the current roster.
In fact, Damon is reportedly discussing the possibilities of a return with
his good friend and former teammate Alex Rodriguez, trying to determine his
fit with the Yankees.
Damon played four seasons in pinstripes before signing with Detroit last
February. He hit .271 through 145 games in the outfield and at DH for the
Tigers, while driving in 51 RBIs.
