NEW YORK -- Andy Pettitte told the Yankees not to count on his return and
entered the winter leaning toward retirement, believing he was needed more
at home than on the mound.
After months of waiting and speculation, the 38-year-old left-hander has
made a final decision. Pettitte will announce his retirement Friday at a
10:30 a.m. ET news conference at Yankee Stadium.
The news conference can be seen live on MLB.com and yankees.com. Pettitte
will be joined by general manager Brian Cashman and manager Joe Girardi.
