Round 1 ,51st overall,third baseman Dante Bichette Jr. : Listed at 6-foot-1
and 215 pounds, Bichette Jr. batted a team-high .640 (55-for-86) with 58
runs, 14 doubles, 10 home runs and 40 RBIs in 30 games as a senior in 2011,
as Orangewood Christian fell in the Florida Class-2A state finals.
Round 2, 88th overall, LHP Sam Stafford: The 6-foot-4, 195-pounder pitched 3
2/3 scoreless innings on Monday to help Texas beat Kent State and advance to
the Austin Super Regional. The Boston Red Sox drafted him in the 40th round
of the 2008 Draft.
Round 3, 118th overall, RHP Jordan Cote: New Hampshire's Gatorade Player of
the Year, the Winnisquam Regional pitcher has struck out 82 in 45 1/3
innings. He carries a 6-1 record and an 0.77 ERA into Friday's Division III
semifinal against Somersworth. He has publicly said money is a big factor in
deciding his future.
Round 4, 149th overall, 3B Matthew Duran: A Fordham early-signee from New
Rochelle High School, the 6-foot-1, 205-pounder hit .580 this season and has
played for Hank's Yanks.
Round 5, 179th overall, C Gregory Bird: The 6-foot-3, 205-pound switch-hitter
was named Colorado's Gatorade Player of the Year after hitting .553 with 12
homers and 38 RBIs for Grandview. An Arkansas commit, he is being advised by
Brody Schofield of Legacy Sports and is undecided on his future.
Round 6, 209th overall, CF Jake Cave: From Kecoughtan (Va.) High School, the
6-foot, 180-pounder batted .594 and was named Eastern Region co-Player of the
Year. He also pitched, going 6-3 with a 1.65 ERA.
Round 7, 239th overall, 1B Austin Jones: The 6-foot-1, 210-pounder hit .568
for Edmonds Woodway (Wash.) High School, earning first-team, Western
Conference 4A South Division honors.
Round 8, 269th overall, RHP Philip Wetherell: At Western Kentucky this
season, the 6-foot-5, 225-pounder saw mostly relief work, but he did make
four starts, going 1-3 with a 4.25 ERA overall.
Round 9, 299th overall, RHP Zachary Arneson: A 6-foot-2, 190-pounder from
Lewis-Clark State University, Arneson went 2-1 with a 2.82 ERA his senior
year, working mostly as a reliever. The Giants took him in the 21st round
last year.
Round 10, 329th overall, RHP Jonathan Gray: The 6-foot-4, 255-pounder from
Eastern Oklahoma State Junior College went 7-2 with a 2.55 ERA his freshman
year.
Round 11, 359th overall, RHP Mark Montgomery: In his junior season at
Longwood University, the 5-foot-11, 205-pounder went 1-0 with an 0.89 ERA,
recording 10 saves.
Round 12, 389th overall, CF Cody Grice: Some of his junior-year numbers at
Grand Valley State were actually down from the previous two years, hitting
.381 with four homers. The 6-foot, 220-pounder did drive in a career-best 59
runs and scored 59 times as well, stealing 23 bases.
Round 13, 419th overall, LF Justin James: The son of former Yankee Dion,
Justin hit .309 with 20 RBIs and 19 steals for Sacramento City College as a
sophomore this season. He stands 6-foot-5, 230-pounds.
Round 14, 449th overall, RHP William Davis: A 6-foot-3, 225-pounder from
Dixon (N.C.) High School, Davis went 25-4 with a 1.67 ERA over four years.
Round 15, 479th overall, RF Tyler Molinaro: Perfect Game USA says this
6-foot-1, 192-pounder from Pitt Community College has the best power bat
among North Carolina junior college players.
Round 16, 509th overall, RHP Branden Pinder: The No. 3 starter at Long Beach
State this season, the 6-foot-3, 210-pounder went 3-5 with a 5.29 ERA in 18
appearances (11 starts).
Round 17, 539th overall, RHP Mathew Troupe: The Arizona commit was considered
a prospect at catcher before showing his stuff on the hill this season at
Chaminade Preparatory (Calif.) High School. He stands at 5-foot-10 and 160
pounds.
Round 18, 569th overall, RHP Hayden Sharp: The Central Oklahoma signee was an
all-state selection at Morris (Okla.) High School, going 6-1 with a 0.91 ERA.
Round 19, 599th overall, RHP Robert Paullus: He goes by the name Ben and went
5-4 with a 2.89 ERA and team-best four saves at Memphis this season.
Round 20, 629th overall, LHP Daniel Camarena: The Cathedral Catholic (Calif.)
High School committed to San Diego. He has played twice for Team USA and last
August was selected for the Aflac All-America game at PETCO Park.
Round 21, 659th overall, 3B Zach Wilson: The Arizona State junior has hit
.270 this season, helping the Sun Devils reach Friday's Super Regional
against Texas in Austin.
Round 22, 689th overall, RHP Nick Goody: From State College of Florida, Goody
is an LSU commit whom Baseball America ranked last summer as the No. 4
prospect in the Florida Collegiate Summer League.
Round 23, 719th overall, RHP Corey Maines: He finished his Illinois State
career as the school's winningest pitcher, going 24-17 overall and 9-4 this
season, during which he had a 2.87 ERA.
Round 24, 749th overall, LHP Matthew Tracy: Tracy started 10 games for Ole
Miss his senior season, going 3-3 with a 5.23 ERA.
Round 25, 779th overall, RHP Adam Smith: He hit .238 with five homers and 24
RBIs in his junior season at Texas A&M, where he has been used at first,
second, short and the outfield.
Round 26, 809th overall, RHP Jordan Foley: The Colony (Texas) High School
standout committed to Central Michigan after his junior season, when he
earned all-district honors after striking out 70 in 68 innings and posting a
0.84 ERA.
Round 27, 839th overall, LHP Chaz Hebert: From Breaux Bridge (La.) High
School, Hebert stands 6-foot and 200 pounds, reportedly reaching 88 mph on
the radar gun.
Round 28, 869th overall, RHP Josean Lazaro: He had a 2.52 ERA and hit .381
with 24 RBIs and 24 runs his senior season at North Broward (Fla.) Prep,
where he was ranked as the state's 42nd best player, according to
Maxpreps.com.
Round 29, 899th overall, RHP Scott Hoffman: Maxpreps.com's fifth-ranked
player in the state of Arizona, Hoffman led Desert Ridge High School to the
Class 5A Division I title as a junior, going 12-0. He committed to Arizona
State following that campaign.
Round 30, 929th overall, RHP John Brebbia: Brebbia was named was named the
2011 Southern Conference Pitcher of the Year.
