Cabral has significant elbow injury
Posted on March 31, 2012 by Rob Abruzzese
So it turns out that Cesar Cabral‘s injury news might have been
more significant that Michael Pineda‘s last night.
After sending the lefty, Rule 5 guy in for an MRI this morning,
Yankees manager Joe Girardi said that he has a significant injury
and expect him to be on the DL for more than a couple of weeks,
according to Marc Carig of the Star-Ledger.
We haven’t heard the phrase Tommy John Surgery thrown around yet,
but that seems like it will come next. Before that though, the
Yankees will probably send Cabral to Dr. James Andrews to have the
elbow checked out.
If Cabral spends the entire season on the DL with TJS than the
Yankees would retain his rights until next season. The catch is
that the same Rule 5 rules would apply because he wouldn’t have
spent the necessary 90-days on the active roster. So while this
is bad news, it doesn’t necessarily mean Cabral’s Yankee career
is over.
With Cabral and Pineda both likely headed to the DL, this not
only opens up a spot on the roster for Clay Rapada, but somebody
else as well. It will likely be a long-man out of the bullpen,
somebody like Adam Warren, David Phelps, or D.J. Mitchell, but
it could also be Bill Hall or Justin Maxwell.

Pineda 看來沒大礙但 Cabral 沒這麼幸運,他的手肘明顯有傷,有可能要開TJ。
