The surgery has been expected since Saturday when general manager Brian Cashman said Sabathia would visit Dr. James Andrews and a Yankees source said the team expected a bone spur to be discovered in Sabathia ’s pitching elbow. Such a surgery is fairly routine compared to over procedures on a pitcher’s elbow. Here’s the brief announcement from the Yankees. New York Yankees LHP CC Sabathia was seen by Dr. James Andrews today in Birmingham, Ala. Dr. Andrews performed arthroscopic surgery on Sabathia’s left elbow to remove a small bone spur.
