(1) @BryanHoch: Giancarlo Stanton said he is dealing with a “very high” level
of pain in both elbows. He has not swung a bat for 3-4 weeks, and is unsure if
he can be ready for Opening Day.
(2) @BryanHoch: Giancarlo Stanton said he'll have to play through pain when he
returns from his elbow injuries:
“Look, tennis elbow or whatever they call it, [there are] tears in your
tendon. So [if you ask] when did it feel good, when did it feel bad, there’s
always a pain level there. You’ve got to deal with that. It’s just the wisest
point to give time right now.”
(3) @BryanHoch: Austin Wells has been standing in against pitchers but isn't
swinging the bat. Why? He says there's no injury issue.
"Just not ready yet. I was hitting higher speed stuff [off a machine] toward
the end of this week. Just preparing for the games the week after they start.
I played late, so I'm taking it a little slower.
(4) @ChrisKirschner: Jasson Domínguez said he’s feeling pretty good in left
field. Said he’s been working a lot on reading different angles.
He also said he was “lost” hitting from the right side last year. Said he’s
more comfortable this year.
(5) @Yankees: Earlier today, RHP Owen White was claimed off waivers by the
Chicago White Sox.
(6) @Yankees: The New York Yankees announced today that they have invited LHP
Rob Zastryzny to 2025 Major League spring training.

(1) @BryanHoch: Giancarlo Stanton will be slow-played during Spring Training
because of discomfort in both elbows, which Aaron Boone likened to tennis
elbow. Boone said it is an issue Stanton was dealing with last season,
including the playoffs.
(2) @BryanHoch: Jake Cousins (right forearm strain) said he's "not set on
saying I'm going to miss" Opening Day. Tomorrow marks the third week of a
four-week shutdown. Said his UCL "looked great" after imaging.
(3) @BryanHoch: Trent Grisham strained a hamstring during his offseason
training but has resumed baseball activities. Aaron Boone said Grisham was
running at close to full speed today.

(1) @BryanHoch: Aaron Boone said he is “certainly optimistic and hopeful” to
have a contract extension before Opening Day. “No place I’d rather be.”
2/14
(1) @BryanHoch: On Marcus Stroman, Brian Cashman said it was “vintage Stro”
and “no big deal.” Cashman called him “a competitor” and agrees that
Stroman is a starting pitcher. He also said Stroman has not requested a trade.
“We’ll see how it all plays out.”
(2) @BryanHoch: Marcus Stroman said he is physically ready to pitch “five or
six”innings right now. He talked about having a difficult offseason, including
losing his Malibu home to fire.
(3) @BryanHoch: Brian Cashman said that Hal Steinbrenner and the Yankees are
currently negotiating an extension to extend manager Aaron Boone’s contract
beyond 2025.
(4) @BryanHoch: Aaron Boone’s extension could be announced before Opening Day,
Brian Cashman said.

(1) @BryanHoch: Jonathan Loaisiga said he felt he “owed it to the team and the
fans” to re-sign with the Yankees after his injury-shortened 2024 season. He
hopes to be MLB-ready in late May or early June. (Matt Blake had previously
said late April/early May.)

(1) @BryanHoch: Ben Rice is working out with the catching group during this
camp and is in the backup catcher mix, Aaron Boone said. They also want to keep
his first base flexibility in play.

(1) @BryanHoch: Jake Cousins has a right forearm strain and is not expected to
begin throwing until next week, Aaron Boone said. That makes him questionable
for Opening Day.
(2) @BryanHoch: Clayton Beeter had a shoulder issue during the offseason that
the Yankees believe he has gotten through. He is throwing side sessions but may
be behind as spring begins.
(3) @BryanHoch: Aaron Boone said he’d “like to think” Jasson Domínguez will
begin the season as the starting left fielder, “but he’s still got to go out
and earn it.”
(4) @Yankees: Earlier today, the Yankees claimed LHP Brent Headrick off waivers
from the Minnesota Twins.
To make room on the 40-man roster, the Yankees designated RHP Owen White for
assignment.
(5) @Yankees: The New York Yankees announced today that they have invited LHP
Tyler Matzek to 2025 Major League spring training.
