[外電] Jesus Flores is coming back
Catcher Jesus Flores has existed this Nationals season as one of this year's
saddest sagas. He came to spring training hoping his battered shoulder would
finally heal. Each time he found progress, a setback instantly erased it. He
visited Dr. James Andrews. He couldn't throw, couldn't swing, couldn't play.
Flores's story, though, may yet have a happy ending. He is playing now, down
in the Instructional League in Florida. In his first game, he hit a home run.
He caught six innings yesterday. General Manager Mike Rizzo said tonight be
believes Flores still has a place in the Nationals future.
"He's hitting the ball very at the plate, as expected," Rizzo said. "He's
making throws to all the bases. He's getting into the swing of catching every
day. He's full-go to do everything."
Before Flores first suffered a shoulder injury, he had become ingrained as
the Nationals' catcher and a potential long-term fixture. The Nationals have
since acquired Wilson Ramos, a 23-year-old regarded by the organization as an
elite prospect, particularly on defense. Ramos could eventually block a spot
for Flores, but the Nationals have not considered switching Flores's position.
"I see him as a full-time, every day catcher," Rizzo said. "I still see him
as a front-line catching prospect. When he's healthy, he's proven that he can
be an everyday catcher in the big leagues."
加油吧,期待明年開季的時候能夠看到你:)
