draft 評價

I also like what the New Jersey Nets accomplished. Pick No. 22 was used to
select Marcus Williams, the draft's best passer and the unfortunate winner of
the annual Last Man in the Green Room certificate. Apparently, Steve Nash
(inexplicably) winning back-to-back MVPs wasn't enough to convince the other
GM's that the point guard position actually matters. Whatever. Williams will
get to learn the nuances of the position from one of the game's 10 best point
guards of all time in Jason Kidd and provide steady back-up service early in
his career.
The Nets also snagged Josh Boone, a player whose stock slid considerably with
his sub-par 2005-06 season. New Jersey won't need him to score, which is a
plus because Boone has no real post-up moves. They will simply look to him to
defend, rebound and hustle - three things the Nets were desperately missing
from their front-court this past season. See? It's not too hard to take an
honest look at your roster and fill holes via the draft.

WINNER: New Jersey Nets
Marcus Williams may have stolen some laptops and showed up at some workouts a
bit heavy, but the guy can really play the point. He was an assassin in so
many games as the one Husky with true heart in crunch time. Everyone had him
as the No. 1 point guard on the board and here he falls to the Nets, with an
aging Jason Kidd. Whereas Rod Thorn is not Isiah Thomas, New Jersey jumped at
the gift. It says here Williams is going to be a very good player for a very
long time.

New Jersey Nets: B+
With two late first-round picks, the Nets were thrilled when Marcus Williams
fell into their laps. He should provide the backup to Jason Kidd that New
Jersey needs. Josh Boone is an enigma, but he has length and athleticism.
Also, Hassan Adams was a good second-round choice – a high-flying athlete
who can really get out and run.

G MARCUS WILLIAMS, CONNECTICUT#151; Profile | Highlights
DIME'S TAKE:
STEAL. We can't stress enough what a great pick this is for New
Jersey. Whoever they were planning on taking at No. 22 just got bounced by
Williams' availability. Marcus is the best point guard in the draft and his
mere presence adds three years to Jason Kidd's career.
SCHRAGER ON THE SCENE:
The Nets make possibly the best pick of the night,
snagging Marcus Williams out of UConn at 23. This selection will haunt Knick
fans for..eh贰bout a decade or two. As Jason Kidd mentors and guides
Williams, he'll mature and develop into a phenomenal pro. Meanwhile, across
the Hudson, Knicks fans will be enjoying the fantastic "intangibles" of the
great Renaldo Balkman. Williams will be playing with a chip on his shoulder,
and will make an immediate impact on the Nets. Balkman? Well, I'm still
convinced Isiah thinks he just got a 52-year-old shooting guard who used to
play for the Mavs.
23. NEW JERSEY NETS
F JOSH BOONE, CONNECTICUT— Profile | Highlights
DIME'S TAKE:
This is also a good pick for the Nets. They need depth badly in
the front court and Boone is probably the best big man left. There are lots
of questions with him though. He disappears for long stretches, at times
comes across as soft and his workouts were terrible.
SCHRAGER ON THE SCENE:
The Nets follow the Williams pick with his UConn
teammate, Josh Boone. Boone's a nice shot blocker, but an absolute disaster
on offense. With Clifford Robinson, Boone, and Williams, the Nets instantly
become UConn South. Let's just hope Cliffy is still around. That whole
40-year-old-guy-allegedly-caught-smoking-weed- during-the-playoffs thing
might not help his cause.

New Jersey Nets
First round (22): Marcus Williams, PG, 6-3, 205, Connecticut
First round (23): Josh Boone, F, 6-11, 240, Connecticut
Second round (54): Hassan Adams, G, 6-4, 220, Arizona
The skinny: Somehow, some way, Nets president Rod Thorn was able to pull this
off. Despite picking where they did, they got a lottery talent in Williams to
develop behind Jason Kidd and spell him for increasing minutes. Josh Boone is
a terrific shot-blocker and will rebound — and Hassan Adams gives them
defense and savvy off the bench. They needed depth and surprisingly got it in
the draft. They'll probably add one more piece in free agency. Grade: A.

New Jersey Nets
The Nets made two pretty solid picks with the 22nd and 23rd picks, acquiring
point guard Marcus Williams and backing him up with center Josh Boone. Both
players will see minutes with the Nets next season, but won't have fantasy
value. When comparing the Nets draft to that of the Knicks, the Nets win in a
landslide. Marcus could end up being the steal of this draft, as many experts
had him going as early as seventh overall.

New Jersey
Marcus Williams slipped right to the surprised Nets to give them a top-shelf
backup to Jason Kidd. Josh Boone rebounds and defends and that is fine for a
team with Kidd, Carter, and Jefferson. New Jersey absolutely needed a big man
and they got one in Boone.

New Jersey Nets
Marcus Williams (#22)
Josh Boone (#23)
Hassan Adams (#54)
Back-to-back Huskies picks who will really fit the Nets team and provide them
with sorely needed depth. Boone and Williams will immediately enter the team’
s rotation and plug needed holes. The Nets needed a good backup for Kidd and
now that he is getting up there in age, Williams can be their point guard of
the future if he’s as good as many thought he was supposed to be before
free-falling in the draft.
Boone can provide good length, shot blocking and rebounding as a backup to
both Nenad Krstic and Jason Collins.
Hassan Adams is a player who will be able to catch passes, grab boards and
add some additional excitement to an already exciting team.

Marcus Williams
Surprisingly slipped all the way to No.22. It may have a lot to do with
character issues. It sure was not about talent.

22. New Jersey (from L.A. Clippers): Marcus Williams, PG, Connecticut Grade
Marcus Williams is a superb selection for the Nets. He'll learn under Jason
Kidd and then be a star. What incredible luck for Jersey, which now has
someone to carry the torch alongside Jefferson and Carter about six or so
years from now.
A
23. New Jersey: Josh Boone, C, Connecticut Grade
The Nets just drafted a backup center in Boone. He'll never be any more than
that. Is he the best big man available now? Maybe. Who cares, though? Take
the best player, not a need guy at this stage.

(22) Marcus Williams
(23) Josh Boone
(54) Hassan Adams
Williams: Early draft entry sees the court well and is good
in the clutch, particularly at the free-throw line.
Boone: Agile; runs court well; great offensive finisher; plays with energy;
has good understanding of the game.
Adams: Aggressive, with great leaping ability that allows him to play bigger
than he is. Excellent rebounder.
The Nets strengthened their bench thanks to
the University of Connecticut, picking Williams — who dropped out of the top
10 to No. 22 to back up Jason Kidd — and Boone at No. 23.
