[情報] Thorn Says Kidd Staying For Now
No Kidding: No deal
Thorn says stars staying for now
BY JULIAN GARCIA
DAILY NEWS SPORTS WRITER
The Nets don't have any players Rod Thorn would label as untouchable. But
that doesn't mean the Nets' president is close to dealing either Vince Carter
or Jason Kidd, or that he's even thinking about it.
In fact, the team the Nets had yesterday could be the one they have when the
Feb.22 trade deadline passes.
Thorn is keeping his options open. But as of yesterday afternoon, he didn't
have many options to consider.
"I don't see anything out there right now," Thorn said while his team enjoyed
a day off following its third straight win, a 93-78 thrashing of the Magic at
the Meadowlands Saturday.
Thorn said he will operate as he normally does as the deadline nears. He's
listening to all offers and isn't ruling anything out. But he likely would
have to be blown away by an offer in order to pull the trigger on a deal that
would send either Carter or Kidd packing.
One local report yesterday suggested the Nets and Lakers are mulling a deal
that would send Kidd to L.A. in exchange for a package of young players. But
Kidd's name coming up in talks between the teams doesn't mean anything is
imminent. Like Carter, Kidd's name is often mentioned in talks because he's a
player teams would love to have.
Lakers GM Mitch Kupchak recently told the L.A. Times that he doesn't think he
will "tinker with the team" before the deadline.
Thorn is sticking to his promise that he wouldn't give up Kidd or Carter
unless he's rewarded with players who can improve the Nets. Right now, Carter
and Kidd give the Nets - 25-27 and in second place in the Atlantic Division -
their best chance of making the playoffs in the weak Eastern Conference.
"Those guys are really good players," Thorn said. "If something comes up that
really makes sense then you'd do it. But I've never said that I wouldn't
trade anybody if something came up that made sense."
As for the other part of the Nets' so-called "big three," Thorn said Richard
Jefferson is in the very early stages of rehabilitating from the right ankle
surgery he underwent on Jan. 22.
Jefferson recently started working in the pool and likely will be out until
early next month. At this point, Thorn has no idea what to expect from
Jefferson when he does return.
"It's tough to say," Thorn said. "What kind of condition will he be in? Will
he be 100%?"
Thorn also said that despite the fact the Nets are two games under .500, he
isn't necessarily unhappy with the way they've played, other than their
inability to hold late leads, which has cost them numerous games this season.
"I think we've played pretty well, other than not being able to close games
out," Thorn said.

原則上也是沒否認...但就是不會在近期完成就是了...
如果真的和籃網緣分已盡...
請把KIDD和VC送往他們想去的地方吧!
