[原文] KRSTIC: NO PAIN
By FRED KERBER
September 11, 2007 -- Now he admits it. Nenad Krstic was worried earlier this
summer. Real worried.
While rehabbing from a torn ACL(前十字韌帶) in his left knee, he suffered a
sprain. There was pain - and even a five-week stay back home in Serbia did
nothing to ease any mental or physical distress.
Now all that is in the past. Krstic was upbeat after a workout yesterday.
There was cutting, jumping, stuff
that has been going on for a week. But there was no trace of pain.
“I feel great,” said the 7-foot Krstic, whose comeback is vital to Nets’
success this season. “I’m feeling really good. This was the best day for
me because I was doing sliding, changing directions, a lot of springing,
taking shots, doing post-ups. A couple of days ago I had pain, like jumper’s
knee. But today I didn’t feel any pain.”
When Krstic sprained the MCL(中十字韌帶) in the same left knee in
early summer, doctors said there was no relation to the devastating December
injury that limited him to 26 games. The sprain pain was normal. But try
telling someone who felt “useless” for over four months not to fret.
“The first week I hurt the MCL, I was worried,” said Krstic, who realizes
how important his presence is for the Nets.
“But it stopped when I came back [to New Jersey]. The doctor said it was OK
and to start doing some things, because in Serbia I didn’t do anything.
“I think we’d have a pretty good team,” Krstic added about the Nets’
outlook with him healthy. “Last year was the first time in my career where
I had [a major injury]. I sat behind the bench and felt useless. Right now I
feel fine.”
Conditioning is the issue now. Krstic is at 270 pounds - 10 above his playing
weight. He aims to be 100 percent by opening night, when there should be
Jason Kidd, Vince Carter, Richard Jefferson and new addition Jamaal Magloire.
And if there is a healthy Krstic, there is reason for hope and optimism in
New Jersey.
The Nets yesterday officially signed 6-10 Malik Allen. The six-year vet, will
get the veteran’s minimum if he sticks. He averaged 4.0 points and 2.0
rebounds in 60 games with Chicago last year.
