ESPN David Thorpe 的觀察
Rookie Watch: It's a four-way tie

Brook Lopez, Nets
I like Lopez's ability to be a threat from out on the floor when being
tightly guarded. He's able to get his waist down and dribble under control a
few times. And in time, he'll be able to convert these drives more regularly
than he can now.
我喜歡 Lopez 在場上成為對手眼中威脅的能力,所以他會被緊釘著防守。
他可以讓自己的腰低下來,並且在一些時刻做運球的動作。
他將能夠使這個技巧在未來更熟練。
When I see him wheel around the pinch post-extended and drive toward the rim
after faking a handoff, I think of Tim Duncan. He doesn't move like Duncan,
but he is going to be able to do a lot of the things that Duncan does. He has
a chance to be a truly special player.
In the Paint: Nets' Brook Lopez a towering presence in middle
Nets rookie center Brook Lopez lunges for a ball against the Wizards. Lopez
is having a strong first season, becoming one of the best big men in the
Eastern Conference.
This season, a clear line of demarcation has evolved in the Eastern
Conference, with three teams — the Boston Celtics, Cleveland Cavaliers and
Orlando Magic, in some order — standing above the rest. But except for the
Washington Wizards, every other East team has a legitimate shot at the
playoffs.
Right now the Milwaukee Bucks and New Jersey Nets are jockeying for the
eighth and final conference playoff spot. But the Bucks have already lost
their two best players: guard Michael Redd is out for the season with a knee
injury, and center Andrew Bogut could miss the rest of the season with a
stress fracture in his lower back.
Conversely, Nets All-Star guard Devin Harris is heating up again after
hamstring and rib injuries slowed him in January. Entering Tuesday, he was
averaging 25.3 points and 7.8 assists in February. And while swingman Vince
Carter missed New Jersey's Feb. 8 loss to Orlando with a hyperextended elbow,
he doesn't consider the injury to be serious.
But perhaps the team is most excited about rookie Brook Lopez, who has
blossomed into one of the conference's best centers. He was averaging 17.0
points, 11.3 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.5 blocked shots in four games this
month.
"I thought I'd eventually work myself up to this," says Lopez, who was
drafted 10th overall out of Stanford, "but not this quickly."
