The previous winners read like anyone's Hall of Fame roster: Willis Reed, Yogi Berra, Muhammad Ali, Walt "Clyde" Frazier, Mariano Rivera. For Harris, it's a singular honor, one that ranks up there with his professional honors. His foundation, 34 Ways to Assist, has worked with young people in crisis: Make-a-Wish, Big Brothers, Big Sisters, and most recently the Eric LeGrand Believe Foundation. He sees it as his personal calling. "Not everyone is obligated — it doesn’t work that way," Harris tells Dave D'Alessandro when asked about why he's so active. "It might not be how you were raised, or how your DNA is configured. And that’s fine. That’s your prerogative.
