Newcastle striker Patrick Kluivert says earning a recall to the Holland
squad is "not important" to him anymore.
"To be honest, if I was called up I do not think that I would go," Kluivert
told Newcastle's The Journal.
"It does not bother me if I am called up or not. That chapter in my life
is probably closed."
The 28-year-old, who has scored 40 international goals, has not featured
since Euro 2004, when Ruud van Nistelrooy was preferred up front.
Since his arrival from Barcelona, Kluivert has struggled to establish himself
at Newcastle, scoring four times in the Premiership.
However, the Dutchman endeared himself with the fans by scoring the winner
in Newcastle's FA Cup wins over Chelsea and Tottenham and he insists he
wants to stay at St James' Park.
"All I care about is Newcastle United and doing well for Newcastle," he
said.
"I am desperate to stay here because I am enjoying my football and I am
very happy on and off the pitch."
