Shearer 'to play on next season'
Newcastle striker Alan Shearer has postponed his retirement and will
play on for another season, say reports.
Shearer, 34, has insisted several times that he would quit in May,
but he has reportedly negotiated a contract extension to stay on
at St James' Park.
The former England captain is just nine goals short of Jackie Milburn's
club-record total of 200 goals.
BBC Radio Five Live understands Shearer will confirm the decision
at a news conference on Friday morning.
