It is not known if it would be a permanent or a loan deal but Newcastle chairman Freddy Shepherd told the club website: "He is flying in for talks." The 28-year-old was thought to be moving to Ajax earlier this week before the Dutch club's interest cooled. Coco, a former team-mate of Newcastle's new signing Emre, has been capped 17 times by Italy. He spent two years at AC Milan before moving to Inter, where he fell out of favour last season. Coco actually competed against Newcastle in a Champions League clash two years ago - a 2-2 draw at the San Siro. He also played for Italy in the 2002 World Cup - when his nation were unexpectedly beaten by South Korea in the second round. Olympiacos have also been linked with the defender, who would become manager Graeme Souness' second signing from Inter following the arrival of Emre.
